Title: The expressions of hormone receptors and oncogene in the patients with breast cancer and their clinical significance
Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationships between the expressions of estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),c-erbB-2,and clinicopathologic parameters of the bre...Objective To investigate the relationships between the expressions of estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),c-erbB-2,and clinicopathologic parameters of the breast cancer and to evaluate their value in predicting the prognosis of breast cancer.Methods The databank of clinical data and expressions of ER,PR,CEA and c-erbB-2 proteins in 791 cases of breast cancer were established and the results were analyzed by using chi-square test,Kaplan-Meier(SPSS10.0).Results The positive expression rates of ER,PR,CEA and c-erbB-2 were 64.6%,66.5%,45.5% and 66.2% in the 791 breast cancers,respectively.The positive rate of ER expression in the infiltrating lobular carcinomas was significantly higher than that of the infitrating ductal carcinomas of breast(P0.05).There was significantly higher expression of the c-erbB-2 in ductal carcinomas in situ of the breast than that in infitrating ductal carcinomas and invasive ductal carcinomas of the breast(P0.01).Coherent over-expressions of ER and PR,CEA and c-erbB-2 in patients with breast cancer were significantly correlated to the clinical stages and tumor's volume(r=-5.3,P0.01;r=8.2,P0.01;r=3.5,P0.05). The patients with coherent of over-expressions of CEA and c-erbB-2 had more frequent chance of axillary's lymph node metastasis,and had shorter time of disease-free survival(P0.05),while the patients with coherent over-expression of ER and PR had longer time of disease-free survival(P0.01).Conclusion The coherent expressions of ER and PR,CEA and c-erbB-2 may elucidate the mechanism of the carcinogenesis and progress,and the biological characteristic of invasive and metastasis.The detection of the combined expression of ER,PR,CEA and c-erbB-2 is helpful for the clinical therapy and prognosis of the breast cancer.Read More
