Title: Expression and their clinical significance of lymphatic microvessel density marked by D2-40 and VEGF-D in laryngeal carcinoma
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To study the expression of lymphatic microvessel density by the means of D2-40 and vascular endothelial growth factor D(VEGF-D) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent tissue, and to discuss their clinical significance and relationship with the development of laryngeal carcinoma.METHODS To examine the expression of VEGF-D and lymphatic microvessel density by using immunohistochemistry technique in 46 samples of laryngeal carcinoma,14 samples of adjacent tissue of laryngeal carcinoma and analysis their relationship with clinicopathological parameters.RESULTS The positive rate of VEGF-D in laryngeal carcinoma was 73.9%,which was higher than that in adjacent tissue(P0.05).The high expression of VEGF-D in laryngeal carcinoma was closely correlated with the histological type,surgical-pathological stages and metastasis of lymph nodes(P﹤0.05).Lymphatic microvessel density by the means of D2-40 was correlated with the surgical-pathological stages, tumor primary site and metastasis of lymph nodes(P0.05).Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the survival rate was significantly lower in patients with positive VEGF-D expression than those with negative expression(P0.05).CONCLUSION The expression of VEGF-D and lymphatic microvessel density in laryngeal carcinoma were significantly high and they may play important roles in the process of occurrence and development in laryngeal carcinoma.VEDF-D has effects on the lymphangiogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma.
