Title: Expression of VEGF-D/VEGFR-3 in Laryngeal Carcinoma and Their Relationship with Lymphatic Metastasis
Abstract: Objective To explore the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor D(VEGF-D) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3(VEGFR-3) in laryngeal carcinoma and adjacent tissues and their role in the occurrence and lymphatic metastasis of the cancer, and analyze the relativity and relationship of them with the clinical parameter of the laryngeal carcinoma. Methods The expression of VEGF-D and VEGFR-3 were detected by using immunohistochemistry technique in 46 cases of laryngeal carcinoma and 14 cases of adjacent tissue of them. The correlation between the expression of VEGF-D/VEGFR-3 and the occurrence of laryngeal carcinoma was analyzed, and their relationship with age,gender,surgical-pathological stages, pathological grades, metastasis of lymph nodes was discussed. Results ①the positive rate of VEGF-D/VEGFR-3 in laryngeal carcinoma was higher than that in adjacent tissue, the difference was significant between the two groups(P0.01).②The high expression of VEGF-D and VEGFR-3 in laryngeal carcinoma was closely correlated with the histological type, metastasis of lymph nodes and surgical-pathological stages.but no association was observed with age,the tumor original position and gender(P0.05).Conclusion VEGF-D could come to be a new index to estimate the prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma and blocking the signal pathway in the expression of VEGF-D/VEGFR-3 may become a new approach to anti-lymphatic metastasis of laryngeal carcinoma.
