Title: Clinical value of flow cytometry HLA-B27 testing in diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis
Abstract: Objective
To investigate the clinical value of HLA-B27 testing in diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by flow cytometry.
Methods
The peripheral blood HLA-B27 was detected by flow cytometry in 75 diagnosed AS patients (AS group), 95 suspected AS patients (non-AS group) and 45 health people (control group).
Results
The fluorescence intensity and the positive rates of HLA-B27 in AS group were significantly higher than those in non-AS group and control group: 158.0±24.0 vs. 94.8±30.5 and 89.1±18.9, 93.33% (70/75) vs. 5.26% (5/95) and 4.44% (2/45), and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). The sensitivity of HLA-B27 in diagnosis of AS was 93.3% (70/75), the specificity was 94.7% (90/95), while the accuracy was 94.1%(160/170).
Conclusions
There is a high correlation between AS and HLA-B27. The flow cytometry assay of HLA-B27 plays an important role in the early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of AS.
