Title: Detection and clinical significance of HLA-B27 antigen by flow cytometry
Abstract: [Objective] To evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of HLA-B27 in patients of ankylosing spondylitis(AS)and acute anterior uveitis(AAU)by flow cytometry(FCM).[Methods] Using FCM,HLA-B27 was determined in 85 AS patients,40 AAU patients,90 backache and backleg pain patients, and 80 controls.[Results] The positive rate of HLA-B27 in AS patients was 91.8% and was higher than that of backache and backleg pain patients(5.6%)or controls(3.8%).The positive rate of HLA-B27 in AAU patients(52.5%)was higher than that of controls. There was no significant difference between the backache and backleg pain patients and controls for the positive rate of HLA-B27.[Conclusions] It is suggested that the determination of HLA-B27 for the diagnosis of AS is an accurate and effective diagnostic method as its highly sensitivity and specificity.Detecting HLA-B27 in the patients with AAU is helpful to evaluate the clinical characteristics and the prognosis of AAU.
