Title: THE ANALYSIS AND DETECTION OF ESTROGEN AND PRO-GESTERONE RECEPTORS IN 100 CASES OF BREAST CANCER
Abstract: Breast cancer specimens from 100 patients were stained for the estrogen receptors (ER) and progestin receptors (PR) by the Avidin-Biotin Peroxidase-Complex (ABC) immunohistochemistry method. The results showed that both ER and PR were positive in 40 cases(40%), Both negative in 26 cases(26%). During 3 to 4 years follow-up period, one of 40 cases with ER and PR positive presented with recurrences (2.5%), whereas 12 of 26 cases with ER and PR negative group recured (46.2%). This differnce is significant (p0.01). These results indicats that breast cancer patients with simultaneous ER and PR positive have a better prognosis than those negative patients. Therefore, the simultaneous measurement of ER and PR has the adrantages for taking clinical therapy and estimating prognosis of breast cancer.
