Title: Effects of benazepril on the function of endothelium in rats with renal hypertension
Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of benazepril on serum angiotensin II(Ang II) and nitric oxide(NO)in rats with renal hypertension. Methods: The rats with renal hypertension were treated with benazepril for 5 weeks. The plasma levels of NO and AngⅡwere measured before and after the treatment. Results: The plasma level of AngⅡwith hypertension was significantly higher (P0.01), but the plasma level of NO was lower than those of controls (P0.01). After the treatment , the blood pressure decreased significantly (P0.01). The plasma level of NO increased and that of AngII decreased (P0.01). Conclusion: The treatment of benazepril plays an important role not only in reducing the blood pressure but also in protecting the endothelial function.
