Title: Effects of domestic candesartan on endothelial function and insulin resistance in essential hypertension patients
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the effects of candesartan on endothelial function and insulin resistance in essential hypertension patients. Methods:The concentrations of fasting blood glucose, serum insulin were measured in 42 patients with hypertension after 8 weeks treatment with candesartan. Endothelial function was assessed by the concentration of plasma endothelin-1(ET-1) nitric oxide(NO) measured before and after treatment. Results: After 8 weeks treatment with candesartan,SBP and DBP decreased significantly. Fast insulin was reduced and insulin sensitive index was significantly increased. Candesartan also resulted in a significant reduction of plasma ET-1 and a rise of nitric oxide(NO)(P0.05,P0.01 respectively). Conclusion: Candesartan can effectively decrease blood pressure and improve endothelial function and insulin resistance.
