Abstract:AIM: To confirm the effect of piracetam compound (PC) on Alzheimer's disease.METHODS:Double-blind method was adopted on 28 patients(M15,F13,age 68±5 a) :14 patients received PC 2 capsules,po,tid for 6...AIM: To confirm the effect of piracetam compound (PC) on Alzheimer's disease.METHODS:Double-blind method was adopted on 28 patients(M15,F13,age 68±5 a) :14 patients received PC 2 capsules,po,tid for 60 d (group A) ;the other 14 patients received placebo(group B) .RESULTS:The memory quotient(MQ) and HDS(Hastgawa Dementia scale) in group A were + 5 ± 12 and + 4 ± 4,respectively,in group B were- 5±9and-0.7±2.0,respectively (P0.05).ADL(Activities of Daily living scale)of group A was-4±6,and + 1 ±3in group B,P 0.01.No significant difference was seen in side effects of mind, digestion,and blood pressure which occurred in several patients in both groups. CONCLUSION:MQ,HDS and ADL of patients with Alzheimer's disease were improved by piracetam compound,without severe side effects.Read More
