Title: Efficacy observation of magnesium valproate in prevention and treatment of mania
Abstract: Objective:To study clinical efficacy and safety of magnesium valproate in prevention and treatment for mania.Methods:68 patients with mania in our hospital were randomized into control group(34 cases, taking lithium carbonate) and observation group(34 cases, taking magnesium valproate sustained-release tablets based on lithium carbonate),and they were treated for 2months. The clinical efficacy were evaluated and compared in the two groups according to Bech-Rafaelsen mania rating scale(BRMS) reduction rate. The changes of BRMS scores and adverse reactions in the two group during the treatment period were observed. Results:Compared with control group, the total effective rate in observation group was significantly increased(P 0. 05);The BRMS score after the treatment was obviously reduced(P 0. 05). There were no serious adverse reactions during the treatment period in the two groups. Conclusions:Magnesium valproate can better prevent and treat mania with less adverse reactions and high safety, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
