Title: The comparative study of bisoprolol and urapidil in reversion of left ventricular hypertrophy in essential hypertensive patients
Abstract: Objective To observe the reversal effects of bisoprolol and urapidil on left ventricular hypertrophy in essential hypertension(EH).Methods Seventy-six EH patients with ventricular hypertrophy were divided into bisoprolol group and urapidil group at random. Before treatment and at 6th month,12th month and 24th month after treatment, the left ventricular diastolic diameter(LVDd),interventricular septal thickness(IVST),left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),cardiac output(CO) and A peak /E peak ratio(A/E ratio) were measured. Results Before and after treatment, the LVEF and CO of the two groups were not changed, but A/E ratio of the two groups was significantly decreased.Left ventricular mass index(LVMI),LVDd,IVST and LVPWT were decreased remarkably in bisoprolol group, but they were not changed significantly in urapidil group. Conclusions Bisoprolol and urapidil may improve left ventricular diastolic function.Only bisoprolol may significantly reduce left ventricular hypertrophy.
