Title: Bisoprolol combined with enalapril in reversing left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with essential hypertension
Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Bisoprolol combined with enalapril in reversing left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in patients with essential hypertension(EH).Methods 94 patients with EH associated with LVH were divided into two groups, one was treated with Bisoprolol combined with enalapril(group A,n=48) and another was treated with enalapril(group B,n=46).Before and after treatment, the changes of left ventricular diastolic diameter(LVDd),interventricular septal thick(IVST),left ventricular posterior wall thick(LVPWT),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),cardiac output(CO),the ratio of A peak/E peak(A/E ratio) and left ventricular mass index(LVMI) were observed. Results Before and after treatment in these two groups, the levels of LVEF,CO and LVDd were almost the same(P0.05);A/E ratio,LVMI,IVST and LVPWT all decreased significantly(P0.01),but in comparison to group B,the above levels decreased more significantly in group A(P0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion Bisoprolol combined with enalapril can significantly reverse LVH in patients with EH and improve the prognosis.
