Title: Correlation of p53 overexpression and nm23 low-expression with invasion and metastasis in ovarian carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation of pathogenesis, development and metastasis with expression of p53 and nm23 in ovarian epithelial tumor. Methods Labeled streptavidin-biotin(L-(SAB)) immunohistochenical staining method was used to detect the expression of p53 and nm-23. Results The positive rates of p53 and nm23 were 0,0,45%,46% and 40%,40%,55%,23% in the benign, borderline and invasive epithelial ovarian tumor stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ,respectivley. In the ovarian epithelial tumor stage Ⅲ,higher rate of nm23 positive staining was also found without lymph mode metastasis(10/12,83%) than that with lymph node involvement(5/28,18%;(P)0.01).There was no difference in expression rate of p53 in ovarian epithelial tumor stage Ⅲ without lymph node metastasis(6/12,50%) and that with lymph node involvement(11/28,40%;P0.05). Conclusions It is suggested that p53 overexpression might play a significant role in invasion and proliferation in the ovarian epithelial tumors, not in lymph node metastasis.nm23 low-expression might play a role in lymph node metastasis. There is no significant correlation of surface planting with the local spread in the cancer.
