Title: Expression and significance of CD44V6 and nm23Hl in breast carcinoma
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of CD44V6 and nm23H1 in breast carcinoma. Methods: The expression of CD44V6 and nm23H1 was detected by SP immunohistochemical method in 88 cases of breast carcinoma, followed by the further analysis on the relationship between their expression and the lymph node metastasis and the postoperative survival. Results: A close relationship was shown between the expressions of CD44V6 and of nm23H1 protein, as well as lymph node metastasis (P0.01, P0.05, respectively). The patients with high expression of CD44V6 and low expression of nm23H1 had significantly low disease - free survival and overall survival (P 0. 01). Conclusion: Detection of CD44V6 and nm23H1 may be helpful in determining the lymph node metastasis and combined detection of them may have prognostic value in breast carcinoma.
