Title: Expression of PTEN and nm23 in breast cancer and their clinical significance
Abstract: Objective To study the expression of PTEN,nm23 in breast cancer and to investigate their associations with invasion and metastasis. Methods The expressions of PTEN and nm23 were examined in 96 cases of breast carcinoma including 47 cases with axillary lymph node metastasis and 49 cases without axillary lymph node metastasis by immunohistochemistry. Results The expressions of PTEN,nm23 in lymph node metastasis group and in no lymph node metastasis group were significantly different(P0.05).PTEN and nm23 were negative correlated with axillary lymph node metastasis. Conclusion In breast carcinoma, the absence of PTEN and nm23 may indicate axillary lymph node metastasis. The expressions of these proteins are the predictors for prognosis of breast carcinoma.
