Title: Expression and significance of P14~(ARF) and CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To study the expression and significance of P14ARF and CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma. Methods Samples of 125 gastric carcinoma cases were studied using anti-P14ARF and anti-CD44v6 antibodies by immunohistochemical technique. Results Expression of P14ARF in gastric carcinoma did not associate with the sex, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis;expression of CD44v6 was closely related to sex, distant metastasis;P14ARF and CD44v6 expression in gastric carcinoma associated with the differentiation of tumor cells(P0.01);a significant negative correlation was found between P14ARF in cancer cells and CD44v6(r=-0.203,P0.05);patients with positive P14ARF expression had a better prognosis than those with the negative P14ARF expression;patients with positive CD44v6 expression had a worse prognosis than those with the negative expression. Conclusion Inactivation of P14ARF takes part in the happening process of gastric carcinoma;CD44v6 has an important function in lymph node metastasis and differentiation of tumor cells in gastric cancer. These data suggest that the expression of CD44v6 protein may be useful for evaluating biological behavior and it can be a useful predictor of poor prognosis of gastric cancer.
