Title: Observations on the Efficacy of Combined Use of Acupuncture and Medicine in Treating Impotence
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of combined acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in treating impotence. Methods One hundred impotence patients were randomly allocated to two groups. The treatment group of 50 cases were treated by combined use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and the control group of 50 cases,with simple acupuncture. Treatment was given once daily,10 times as a course. There was a rest interval of two days in between. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after two courses of treatment. Results The total efficacy rate was 98.0% in the treatment group and 76.0% in the control group. A ?2 test showed a statistically significant difference in the total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.01) . Conclusion The efficacy of combined acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is clearly superior to that of simple acupuncture in treating impotence.
