Title: Observations on the Efficacy of Acupuncture plus Medicine in Treating Tinnitus
Abstract: Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of acupuncture with medicine in treating tinnitus.Method Sixty tinnitus patients were randomly allocated to two groups,30 cases each.The control group was treated by intravenous drips of lidocaine and puerarin and oral administration of sibelium capsules and the observation group,with acupuncture in addition to the treatment for the control group.One course of treatment consisted of 10 days.The therapeutic effects were evaluated after two consecutive courses of treatment.Result Of the observation group,cure occurred in 4 cases,marked effectiveness in 13 cases,effectiveness in 8 cases and ineffectiveness in 5 cases,with a total efficacy rate of 83.3%.Of the control group,cure occurred in 1 cases,marked effectiveness in 10 cases,effectiveness in 7 cases and ineffectiveness in 12 cases,with a total efficacy rate of 60.0%.There was a statistically significant difference in the total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture plus medicine has an obvious advantage over medicine alone in treating tinnitus.
