Title: Clinical Study on Treatment of Melancholia with Combined Acupuncture and Medicine
Abstract: Purpose To observe the curative effect of combined acupuncture and medicine on melancholia and compare it with that of simple herb treatment. Method Internationally accepted self evaluation depression scale(SDS) was use for examination to select 63 patients. An acupuncture plus medicine group(electroacupuncture+herbal medicine group) of 33 cases and a herbal medicine group of 30 cases were set up. Results The total effective rate was 90.9% in the acupuncture plus medicine group and 80.0% in the herbal medicine group. There was a statistically significant difference in curative effect between the two groups( P 0.05). No obviously adverse reaction was found. Conclusion The curative effect of combined acupuncture and medicine on melancholia is better than that of simple herb al medicine.
