Title: A TECHNOLGY FOR SYNTHESIS OF ISOAMYL SALICYLATE BY USING THE TiO_2/SO_4~( 2-) AS CATALYST
Abstract: Isoamyl salicylate was prepared by esterification of salicylic acid with isoamyl alcohol using titanium sulfate in chemical purity grade. The effects of molar ratio of isoamyl alcohol to salicylic acid, the amount of catalysis and the water carrying agent and reaction time on the conversion, and also the operation conditions of distillation tower, were studied. Based on the dynamic character of non-isothermal and variable voluminal liquid solid reactions, the macro kinetics equation was established. The results showed that the optimum conditions were molar ratio of alcohol to acid being 2.54, weight of catalyst and water carrying agent both being 3%wt., reaction time being 8 hours. On these conditions, the conversion of salicylic acid was greater than 99.3%, and the yield of isoamyl salicylate was greater than 92%. The esterification was consistent in secondary dynamic model, and the macro kinetic activiation energy 7.9474×10 4 and frequency factor 1.4763×10 9/mol·h.
