Title: The Study on Synthesis Technique of Isoamyl Acetate Catalyzed by Titanium Sulphate
Abstract: Using titanium sulphate as the catalyst, isoamyl acetate was synthesized from acetic acid and isoamyl alcohol. The effects of the amount of catalyst, reaction time, molar ratio of acid to alcohol on esterification rate were discussed respectively and the optimal reaction conditions were obtained: based on 0.2 mol alcohols, the molar ratio of acetic acid to isoamyl alcohol was 1.5:2,the amount of catalyst was 0.5g,and the reaction time was 90 min.Under these conditions, the esterification rate could reach 99.18%.Titanium sulphate catalyst had many advantages, such as high activity, less re- quired amount, short reaction time,non-corrosion and non-pollution to the environment compared with sulfuric acid which was used in industry at present and could be used repeatedly. And the catalyst was abundant, stable, not dissolving into reaction system, and it had a good developing fore- ground.
