Abstract:Objective To elucidate the expression of CD44V6 and E-CD in invasion and metastasis of pancreatic cancer,and evaluate its value for the invasion and tumor metastatic potential.Methods The expression o...Objective To elucidate the expression of CD44V6 and E-CD in invasion and metastasis of pancreatic cancer,and evaluate its value for the invasion and tumor metastatic potential.Methods The expression of CD44V6 and E-CD was detected in 43 cases of pancreatic cancer.Streptavidin-peroxidase immunohistochemistry.Results The normal pancreatic tissue did not express CD44V6 protein,whereas the positive rate of CD44V6 expression was 58.1%(25/43) in pancreatic cancer.The positive expression of CD44V6 in the pancreatic cancer was significantly correlated with the depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P0.05) and it was not associated with the differentiation(P0.05).The normal pancreatic tissue strongly expressed E-CD,whereas 60.5%(26/43) pancreatic cancers showed abnormal expression of E-CD.The significant correlation was observed between abnormal expression and differentiation,the depth of invasion and the lymph node metastasis(P0.05).There was no significant association with the expression of CD44V6 and E-CD(P0.05).Conclusion The positive expression of CD44V6 and the abnormal expression of E-CD has a close relation with the invasion,metastasis of pancreatic cancer.The determination of CD44V6 and E-CD will help in predicting tumor invasion and metastatic potential.CD44V6 and E-CD can serve as the biological marker of invasion and metastasis of pancreatic cancer.Read More
