Title: Brain protective effect of Butylpthalide preconditioning in rat with cerebral ischemics
Abstract: Objective To study the brain protective effect of Butylpthalide preconditioning in rats with cerebral ischemic. Methods Thirty-three male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham operation group, cerebral ischemia model group(cerebral ischemia group) and Butylpthalide preconditioning group(Butylphthalide group),11 rats in each group. The rats in Butylphthalide group were pretreated by gavage with Butylphthalide [0.8 g/(kg·d)] for 14 d.The cerebral ischemia model was established with suture method, the pathologic changes of brain tissue were observed. The infarct volume, brain water content and levels of Smac and S100B protein in brain tissue were detected and compared. Results There was remarkable ischemic damage in or around the infarct region in Butylphthalide group and cerebral ischemia group, but those in Butylphthalide group was lighter than cerebral ischemia group. The infarct volume in Butylphthalide group was significantly smaller than cerebral ischemia group(P0.05).Brain water content and the levels of Smac,S100B protein in cerebral ischemia group and Butylphthalide group were significantly higher than those in sham opration group(P0.05-0.01);and which in Butylphthalide group were significantly lower than those in cerebral ischemia group(all P0.05).Conclusion Butylpthalide preconditioning can reduce cerebral ischemic damage, reduce the levels of brain Smac,S100B protein, and has the obvious brain protective effect.
