Title: Changes of levels of blood homocysteine and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in cerebral infarction patients with impaired glucose tolerance
Abstract: Objective To research the change of levels of blood homocysteine(Hcy) and high-sensitivity C-reactive proteinhs(hs-CRP) in cerebral infarction patients with impaired glucose tolerance(IGT).Methods According to the levels of blood glucose and glucose tolerance test,756 cerebral infarction patients were divided into normal glucose tolerance group,IGT group and diabetes mellitus group. The level of serum hs-CRP was measured by immunological transmission turbidimetry, and the level of plasma Hcy was measured by fluorescence polarization immunoassay. Results Normal glucose tolerance group was in 331 cases,IGT group in 142 cases, diabetes mellitus group in 283 cases. The levels of blood Hcy and hs-CRP in IGT group [(19.17±9.35) μmol/L,(8.0±11.9) μg/ml] and diabetes mellitus group [(20.46±10.56) μmol/L,(7.7±20.7) μg/ml] were significantly higher than those in the normal glucose tolerance group [(16.17±7.35) μmol/L,(3.5±9.2) μg/ml](all P0.001).There was no significant difference in the levels of blood Hcy and hs-CRP between IGT group and diabetes mellitus group. Conclusion The levels of blood Hcy and hs-CRP in cerebral infarction patients with IGT are significantly increased.
