Title: Expression of Livin in primary lung cancer and its clinical significance
Abstract: Objective To study the protein expression level and clinical significance of Livin gene in primary lung cancer. Methods The protein expression of Livin gene in paraffin specimens of 52 cases of lung cancer and 7 specimens of normal lung tissues were detected by SP immunohistochemistry.Results(1)The positive rate of Livin protein expression in lung cancer specimens was 48.1%,but the normal lung tissues were negative staining.(2)The positive rate of Livin protein expression in male lung cancer specimens(59.26%)was higher than that in female lung tissues(36.00%,P0.05).(3)Livin protein expression in lung cancer had no obvious relationship with the pathologic type, grade, and clinical stage. The positive rate of Livin protein expression in specimens with lymph node metastasis(57.89%)was higher than in tissues without lymph node metastasis(36.37%,P0.05).(4)The positive rate of expression of Livin protein in patients whose smoking index≥400 and in patients that400 was 53.57% and 33.33%,respectively,the differences were significant(P0.05).Conclusions Livin protein expression in lung cancer has no obvious relationship with the pathologic type, grade, and clinical stage. It is closely related to lymph node metastasis and smoking index.
