Abstract:Objective:To investigate the expression of C-erbB-2,estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR)in premenopausal and postmenopausal patients with breast cancer,and to explore their prognostic impli...Objective:To investigate the expression of C-erbB-2,estrogen receptor(ER),progesterone receptor(PR)in premenopausal and postmenopausal patients with breast cancer,and to explore their prognostic implications and relationship with pathological characteristics of the cancer.Methods:ER,PR and C-erbB-2 expression in 253 breast cancer cases were detected with immunohistochemical SP method;pathological diagnostic data of 89 postmenopausal breast cancer patients were retrospectively analyzed.Results:(1)Positive rate of ER,PR,C-erbB-2 was not significant different between premenopausal and postmenopausal patients.(2)For premenopausal patients,those with positive C-erbB-2 showed significant lower ER positive rate than C-erbB-2 negative patients(P0.05),but no similar significance was found in PR positive rate.For postmenopausal patients,positive rates of both ER and PR were significant lower in C-erbB-2 positive patients than that in C-erbB-2 negative patients(P0.05).(3)Multivariate analysis showed ER,PR expression was not correlated with the histological characters of breast cancer(P0.05);but C-erbB-2 expression was related to the histological types(r =-0.022,P 0.05).ER expression and lymph node metastasis was not related(P 0.05);however PR was negatively correlated(r =-0.23,P0.05),and c-erbB-2 was positively related with lymph node metastasis(r = 0.605,P0.05).ER expression was not correlated with patients' survival time(r = 0.100,P 0.05)but PR and C-erbB-2 expression was correlated with survival time(r = 0.147,-0.605,P0.05).Conclusions:Joint detection of ER,PR and C-erbB-2 expression can help to choose treatment and predict prognosis for breast cancer patients.Read More
