Title: A survey of attitude toward sex,AIDS/sex related knowledge and education among high school students
Abstract: Objective To investigate attitude toward sex,AIDS/sex related knowledge and education among high school students and provide evidences for relevant health education.Methods A total of 1040 students from five high schools of four counties in Hanzhong district of Shaanxi province with similar economic status and socio-cultural background were investigated by anonymous questionnaires,and information about their attitude toward sex,AIDS/sex related knowledge and education were obtained.SPSS 13.0 soft wares were used to input and describe data collected.Result A total of 940 effective questionnaires were obtained from the interviewed students.Of the respondents 43.51% had love affairs,and 64.06% were not opposed to premarital sex behaviors.The rate of awareness of HIV transmission routes and methods for contraception was 87.00% and 41.49% respectively.Only 41.60% of the respondents were educated on sex-related knowledge,and 70.00% thought it necessary to have a special course on sex-related education in schools.Conclusion High school students lack for sex-related knowledge even though sex is more or less open among them,and regular sex-related education is inadequate for them.Therefore,sex-related education should be expanded in high schools and be combined with HIV/AIDS education.
