Title: AIDS-RELATED KNOWLEDGE,ATTITUDE AND SEXUAL ATTITUDES AMONG COLLEGE FRESHMEN IN A MEDICAL COLLEGE IN THE AREA OF SOUTHWEST CHINA
Abstract: [Objective]To understand the status of knowledge and attitude to AIDS,and the sexual attitudes among college freshmen to provide scientific evidence for health education.[Methods]Cluster sampling was used,16 classes were selected from college freshmen,and each surveyed student completed an anonymous self-administrated questionnaire.[Results]The effective response rate was 96.85%.The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge was 80.34% among the participants.The awareness rate of boy's(81.68%)was higher than girl′s(79.91%),and the awareness rate of students who has been received middle school education was higher(80.89%)than those undeceived(78.31%).It is different from in cities、in towns and in countryside's on awareness rate,such as 84.54%,80.96% and 79.63%.For the AIDS infection,the positive attitude was 59.56%.For the pre-marital sex,some students(45.90%)objected it,but for the cohabitation of college students,just a few students(36.77%)objected it.[Conclusion]The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge is lower among college freshmen,the percentage of the positive attitude of AIDS is especially low,but the sexual attitudes are open.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen publicity and education efforts on AIDS knowledge,develop correct attitude towards sex and positive attitude towards life.
