Title: Expression of EGFR and PI3K in advanced gastric carcinoma and their clinical significances
Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation of EGFR and PI3K protein expression with the clinicopathological parameters in advanced gastric carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical staining detected the expression of EGFR and PI3K protein in 68 cases of advanced gastric cancer tissue and 15 cases of normal gastric mucosa. Results In 68 cases with adanced gastric cancer tissue specimens, the positive rates of EGFR and PI3K protein expression were 58.82% and 76.47%,in normal gastric mucosa were not seen in its positive expression.EGFR was related to lymph node involvement, distant metastasis and clinical TNM staging relevant (P 0.05).PI3K was related to tumor infiltration depth, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis and clinical TNM staging relevant (P 0.05).Conclusion EGFR and PI3K protein expression might be associated with the development, invasion, and metastasis of advanced gastric carcinoma and can be used to evaluate the malignant behavior and prognosis of advanced gastric carcinoma.
