Title: Expression and clinical significance of EGFR and MMP-9 in gastric cancer
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of EGFR and MMP-9 in gastric cancer. Methods The expression of EGFR and MMP-9 was detected by immunohistochemical method in 80 gastric cancer tissues and 30 normal gastric tissues. Results The expression of EGFR and MMP-9 in gastric cancer tissues were significantly higher than that in normal gastric tissues( x2 =20. 95,22. 18 ,all P <0. 05 ). EGFR and MMP-9 expression were correlated with TNM stage ( x2 = 4. 26,5.78, all P < 0. 05 ) and lymph node metastasis ( x2 = 5. 30,5.61 ,all P <0. 05). Conclusion EGFR and MMP-9 were over- expressed in gastric cancer, which was closely correlated to TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. It could be used to evaluate the biological behavior and prognosis of gastric cancer.
