Title: CONCRETE AND STRUCTURES RESEARCH IN THE US STRATEGIC HIGHWAY RESEARCH PROGRAM
Abstract: The U.S. Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) is a 5-year, $150 million research program focused on a range of highway engineering problems with a goal of providing tangible products for immediate application. There are 4 key research efforts within AHRP: Asphalt, Pavement Performance, Highway Operations, and Concrete and Structures. The AHRP Concrete and Structures research aims to increase durability of portland cement concrete in highway applications, and to develop improved techniques and equipment for condition assessment, rehabilitation, and protection of existing reinforced concrete bridges subject to salt-induced corrosion. This paper describes the research being carried out under SHRP's Concrete and Structures program, noting progress and identifying some of the products likely to emerge. Australia's participation in the SHRP program is also detailed.
