The network will serve as communication link between the different multimodal information providers (road, railway, air, maritime) of the various European regions, involving in the North-East area of Italy the motorway traffic control and information Centre and the regional Railway Centre of Verona as regional nodes, and three freight interports Centres. On-line information being exchanged on the INFOTEN network is also examined, together with planned demonstrators, the related new equipment (fixed information terminals, portable traveller assistants and home terminals) and the existing public-private partnerships in the Italian context. The paper highlights the foreseen future evolution of the information services in Italy towards the intermodal approach, based on the expected results of the project. It also provides a picture of the main actors involved, their role in the project and in the possible introduction of the service.Read More
