Title: SOME EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF MANOEUVRABILITY OF SHIPS
Abstract: The matter of manoeuvrability of ships is a problem of growing importance as are the problems of how to deal with increasing size and fullness in ship design and the problem of safety in marine traffic. The authors, by model tests as a means to make the matter of manoeuvrability clear, have studied manoeuvrability with the purpose of finding a ship/model correlation and establishing a rational way of model testing. Here, the authors present a part of their recent research and studies of this matter in the following three parts: Part 1-Study on ship/model correlation of manoeuvrability; Part 2-Experimental example of the effect of ducts on manoeuvrability; and Part 3-Method of model testing of manoeuvrability.
