Their infrastructure is not dimensioned to accommodate traditional monolane systems with the necessary separation between the lanes. So, considering the geometry of the network, they use open multilane systems on the highway itself. At this conference, the experience gained in the development and in the experimentation on a real highway of a multilane electronic toll collection system are shared. The technical difficulties to be solved, the architecture of the resulting system, and the results achieved are presented. To the strict technical features of the point of toll collection, the architecture of the general system for recovering the tolls is described and the integration between a beacon-based system and the GSM general infrastructure.Read More
