Title: The measurement of urinary retinol binding protein in patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning
Abstract: Objective To explore the significance of urinary retinol binding protein (RBP) in patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning(AOPP).Methods Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)was used to measure urinary RBP level in 71 patients with AOPP and in 45 normal controls. Results In the 71 AOPP patients, urinary RBP level was higher in 20 patients, and their urinary albumen was positive with the progression of the poisoning. Urinary RBP level was also higher in 18 of 51 patients with negative urinary albumen.Urinary RBP level at 1, 3, 5, 7 days after poisoning were 10.1,42.3, 22.7, 9.1 mg/mol Cr,respectively, and significantly higher than that of normal controls (8.1 mg/mol Cr, P0.05 ).The more severe the poisoning was, the higher was the level of urinary RBP. Conclusion The measurement of urinary RBP is important for early diagnosis of kidney injury with AOPP.
