Title: Expression and significance of PI3K and PTEN proteins in oral squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To examine the expression and clinical and pathological significance of PTEN and PI3 K in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC). Methods Expression levels of PTEN, PI3 K protein were determined using immunohistochemistry SP in 52 cases of OSCC and 20 specimens of normal oral mucosa tissues. The correlation between PTEN and PI3 K protein and between the two markers and clinical and pathological parameters was analyzed. Results The PTEN level in OSCC was significantly lower than that in control, and level of PI3 K was significantly higher than that in control. The expression of PTEN and PI3 K was related to differentiation, stage, lymph node metastasis. The expression of PTEN protein was negatively correlated to that of PI3 K. Conclusion The PI3 K expression was up-regulated and PTEN expression down-regulated. Both PI3 K and PTEN expression was related to stage and lymph node metastasis. The expression of PTEN protein was negatively correlated to that of PI3 K.
