Title: Expression of COX-in Gastric Carcinomas and Its Correlation with Bcl-2 and CyclinD1
Abstract: Objective To explore the biological significances of COX-2 in patients with gastric cancer and its correlation with bcl-2 and cyclinD1.Methods Forty-two cases of gastric carcinomas and 24 superficial gastritis were detected for COX-2,Bcl-2 and CyclinD1 with immunohistochemistry. Results Among 42 gastric carcinomas,31 showed COX-2 positive, while 5 cases did the positive in 24 normal mucosas(P0.01).The positive rates of Cyclin D1 and Bcl-2 in cancer and gastritis were 47.6 %(20/42) and 50%(21/42),respectively.The expression of COX-2 was positively correlated with those of CyclinD1 and Bcl-2(P(0.05)).COX-2 expression was not relative with such clinicopathological parameters as age, sex, size, histological types. However, there was a positive relationship between COX-2 gene expression and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The study demonstrated that the overexpression of COX-2 gene may participate in oncogenesis and progression of gastric carcinoma by inducing high expression of Bcl-2 and Cyclin D1;COX-2 plays an important role in the process of invasion and metastasis of tumor cells.
