Title: Expression and Clinical Significance of Stat3 in Cervical Carcimomas and Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia
Abstract: Objective To assess the expression of signal transducers and activation of transcription3 in cervical squamous cell carcimoma and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, and to evaluate its relationship with cliniclopathological parameters. Methods Expression of Stat3 protein was determined by immunohistochemical method in 15 normal cervical tissues,50 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 44 cervical squamous cell carcimomas. Results The expression rate of Stat3 was 84.1%(37/44)in squamous cell carcinoma, which was significantly higher than that in the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(P0.05)and normal cervical tissues(P0.01),respectively.Stat3 protein expression was correlated with the histological grade(P0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of Stat3 may have an improtant role in the development and differentiation of cervical carcinoma.
