Title: STAT3 expression in cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions and its significance
Abstract: Objective: This study aimed at investigating STAT3 expression in cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions and their significance. Methods: By means of semi-quantitive RT-PCR,we haved evaluated STAT3 expression at mRNA levels in 13 cases cervicitis tissues,12 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) Ⅰ、17 CINⅡ-Ⅲand 33 squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) tissues. Results: STAT3 expression showed no correlation with the grade of cervical intraepithelial lesions and clinical stage (P 0.10 respectively) ,positively correlated with pathological grade (r = 0.52,P 0.05) ,the group of vascular invasion and lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion 3mm were higher than those contrast lesion group (P 0.05 respectively).Cox regression analysis showed that STAT3 expression has no relationship with poor prognosis of SCC.Conclusions: STAT3 can not directly contribute to the incidence and development of SCC,but plays a direct role in promoting SCC invasion,metastasis,differentiation.Anti-cancer therapeutic strategies targeting STAT3 for cervical cancer remains to be studied further.
