Methods Immunohistochemistry was applied to detect GPC3 expression in 45 cases of PHC. The correlation between exprssion levels of GPC3 and clinicopathologic factors was analyzed. Results The exprssion levels of GPC3 in PHC tissues were significantly higher than those in adjacent normal tissues [(10.3±2.5)vs.(3.2±0.8), P0.05].There were no significant differences of GPC3 expression levels in different age group , in male and female groups (P0.05). But there were significant differences in different clinical stage, tumor diameter, tumor cell differentiation and metastasis or not. The expression degree of GPC3 highly increased in late clinical stage, larger tumor size, less differentiation and metastasis. The expression levels of GPC3 in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues were closely related to clinical stage, tumor size, differentiation and metastasis (OR=0.623-0.960, P0.05). Conclusion GPC3 expresses high in PHC tissues, which could act as a biomarker for evaluating disease condition and prognosis.Read More
