Title: Expression of CD24 in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and its clinical significance
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To explore the express features and clinical significance of CD24 in HCC tissues.METHODS:The expression of CD24 was detected by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry in 42 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma and 42 cases of paraneoplastic cirrhosis tissue, and the dependability between CD24 and the characteristics of clinic pathology was analyzed.RESULTS:RT-PCR showed that the expression of CD24 mRNA was significantly correlated with the histological differentiation(P=0.019)and intrahepatic metastasis(P=0.031),but not with the sex, level of serum HBsAg,level of preoperative serum α-fetoprotein(AFP),tumor capsula, tumor size, and number of tumor(P0.05).The method of Elivision showed that the expression of CD24 was significantly correlated with the histological differentiation(P=0.025)and intrahepatic metastasis(P=0.008),but not with the sex, level of serum HBsAg,level of preoperative serum α-fetoprotein(AFP),tumor capsula, tumor size, and number of tumor(P0.05).The expression of CD24 in HCC was obviously higher than that in paraneoplastic cirrhosis.CONCLUSION:The expression of CD24 in HCC can promote the oncogenesis, progression and metastasis of HCC,and CD24 may be an index of malignancy and prognosis in HCC tissues.
