Title: Expression of Survivin and VEGF in meningioma and its relationship with angiogenesis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin, vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and microvessel density(MVD) in meningioma and its significance. Methods The Survivin,VEGF and MVD were examined by immunohistochemical stain in 72 brain meningioma tissues and 15 non-tumor brain tissues.Survivin and VEGF of expression to be measured by score table. Results Tileexpression of Survivin and VEGF in meningioma tissues(average 3.6±3.2/3.2±2.6) was significantly higher than that in non-tumor brain tissues(average 0/0.4±0.3),and it increased parallel with the elevation of malignant degree.Meningioma, there was appositive correlation between Survivin and VEGF (r=0.287,P0.05).Their high expression is the promotion of tumor angiogenesis,MVD is the quantitative indicators of angiogenesis. Its high expression was positively correlated with the invasive tumor(P0.05).Conclusions The overexpression of Survivin and VEGF associated with the occurrence and development of meningioma, and it contributes to tumor angiogenesis.Survivin,MVD,VEGF can be used as a good biological indicators in meningioma invasive and assessment of the prognosis.
