Title: Combination ultrasonic and pneumatic lithotripsy treatment of staghorn renal stone in percutaneous nephroscopic:a report of 34 cases
Abstract: Objective To evaluate and study the efficacy and safety of combination ultrasonic and pneumatic lithotripsy treatment of staghorn renal stone in percutaneous nephroscopy. Methods From Jan. 2008 to Dec. 2008,34 patients with staghorn renal stone received combination ultrasonic and pneumatic lithotripsy by F20.8 percntancous ncphroscopy in our institute. The stone-free rate and complication were assessed, and the clinical data were retrospectively analysed. Results In 34 cases, total stone clearance rate amounted to 88.2%,obstruction unchain rate amounted to 100%. The first PNL stone clearance rate amounted to 64.7%. The operation time was 82 to 180 minutes, with an average of 113 minutes. The blood loss was 80 to 500ml,with an average of 160 ml. 1 patient required 4u RBC transfusion after operation. The duration of hospitalization was 7-15 days with an average of 9.6 days. Urinary tract infection (38.5℃,3 days) after operation was seen in 23 patients,no severe infection was observed. 9 patients underwent second operation of PNL. The second PNL stone clearance amounted to 88.9%. 28 cases had been followed up for 1 to 6 months, and no patient recurred. Conclusion The pneumatic and ultrasonic combination lithotripsy in percttancous nephrolithotomy in the treatment of staghorn renal stone is a highly efficient procedure and provides safe and fast stone removal.
