Title: hClock gene mRNA and protein expression in colorectal tumor
Abstract: Objective To explore the human circadian clock gene (hClock) mRNA and protein expression in colorectal tumors at different Dukes stages, and to study the relationship of their expression with colorectal cancer invasion and metastasis. Methods The hClock gene mRNA expression in colorectal cancer and the corresponding adjacent tissues obtained from 21 patients were detected by In situ hybridization. The hClock gene protein product (CLOCK protein) expression in corresponding specimens was examined by immunohistochemistry. Results The weak positive rate of hClock mRNA was 47.62%,and the medium or strong positive rate was 52.38% in 21 cases of colorectal cancer. The positive expression rate was related to the Dukes stages (P0.05). The CLOCK protein was medium or strong positive expression in all patients. The corresponding adjacent tissues hClock mRNA and protein expression were weak (P0.01). Conclusion hClock gene may be related to the incidence of colorectal cancer, the development of invasion and metastasis.
