Title: Effect of irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets on endothelial function and hs-CRP
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets on endothelial function and hs-CRP in hypertensive patients. Methods One hundred patients with mild-moderate essential hypertension were divided into hydrochlorothiazide treatment group(n=46)and irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide treatment group(n=54).Patients in hydrochlorothiazide treatment group administered an oral hydrochlorothiazide tablet(25 mg)and those in irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide treatment group took an oral irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide tablet in the morning for 6months.Their blood pressure, serum hs-CRP and von Willebrand factor(vWF)levels, brachial artery endothelium-dependent dilation(EDD),and blood biochemical criteria were measured before and after treatment. Results The systolic and diastolic blood pressure and serum K level were significantly lower whereas the uric acid level was significantly higher in hydrochlorothiazide treatment group after treatment than before treatment(P0.01)with no significant difference in vWF level and EDD(P0.05).The systolic and diastolic blood pressure and serum hs-CRP and vWF level were significantly lower whereas the EDD was significantly higher in irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide treatment group after treatment than before treatment(P0.05,P 0.01).Conclusion Irbesartan hydrochlorothiazide tablets can decrease the blood pressure, improve the injured vascular endothelial function, and reduce the inflammatory factors in hypertensive patients.
