Title: Assessment on carotid artery elasticity in patients with coronary atherosclerosis using echo-tracking technique
Abstract: Objective To assess the elasticity of carotid artery by echo-tracking technique in patients with coronary atherosclerosis. Methods Fifty patients with coronary atherosclerosis verified by coronary angiography were enrolled into the patients group, and fifty healthy subjects were selected into the control group. The echo-tracking technique was used to evaluate the carotid elastic modulus, such as the pressure-strain elastic modulus(Eρ),stiffness parameter(β),arterial compliance(AC),pulse wave conducting velocity(PWVβ)and augment index(AI).The correlation of each parameters was analyzed among two groups. Results Eρ,β and PWVβ increased significantly, but AC reduced obviously compared with the control group(P 0.01).The correlaion among Eρ,β,PWVβ was positive(r=0.947,0.867,all P0.05),while the correlation between AC and Eρ,β,PWVβ was negative(r=-0.541,-0.541,-0.518,all P0.05).There was postive correlation between β and PWV β(P0.01),and no correlation between AI and Eρ,β,PWVβ,AC.Conclusion E-Tracking technique can be used to detect the vascular changes of coronary atherosclerosis and be a promising modality for quantitative estimation of arterial elastic function in early stage.
