Title: Changes in early renal function in old patients with pre-diabetes
Abstract: Objective To explore whether early diabetic nephropathy changes in old patients with pre-diabetes.Methods 68 old subjects were divided into normal glucose tolerance(NGT)group and impaired glucose regulation(IGR)group according to oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT)results to detect the excretion of urinary micro-albumin(mAlb),transferrin(TRF),N-acetyl-beta-D glucosaminidase(NAG)and retinal binding protein(RBP).Results The excretion of urinary mAlb,NAG and RBP were higher in IGR group compared with those in NGT group(P0.01).Only the level of urinary RBP in IFG group was higher(P0.01).The levels of urinary mAlb,TRF,NAG and RBP in IGT group were all significantly higher than those in NGT group(P0.01).The 2 h plasma glucose(2 h PG)level of OGTT and serum insulin level correlated with the levels of urinary mAlb,TRF,NAG and RBP.Conclusions There are early renal damages in old patients with pre-diabetes,which is related to plasma insulin level and glucose level.
