Title: Expression of EGFR and CD_(44) and Its Clinicopathological Significance in Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of EGFR and CD44 in breast carcinoma and the correlation between their exression and clinicopathological characteristics. Methods? The expression of EGFR and CD44 was detected in paraffin-embedded tissues from 115 cases of breast carcinoma by immunohistochemical staining.Their relationships to age, tumor size, lymphnode metastasis, clinical stage, the expression of ER,PR,C-erbB-2 were analyzed. Results? The expression of EGFR and CD44 showed significant correlation with lymphnode metastasis and the TNM stage(P0.05) and no significant correlation with age, tumor size,C-erbB-2 expression. The expression of EGFR was correlated with the expression of ER and PR(P0.05),whereas the expression of CD44 was not significant correlated with the expression of ER and PR.There was no significant correlation between EGFR expression and CD44 expression. Conclusions?EGFR and CD44 were closely correlated to the genesis and development of breast carcinoma and their expression is helpful to predict the prognosis and therapy.
