Title: Clinical significance of p27 expression in breast carcinoma and its correlation with C-erbB-2 and p53
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of p27 in breast carcinoma and its correlation with C-erbB-2 and p53.Methods The expression of p27 and C-erbB-2 was determined by SP immunohistochemical technique in 50 cases of breast carcinoma and 30 cases of benign breast tissue. Results Positive expression rate of p27 was 54% in breast carcinoma and 73.33% in benign breast tissue(P0.05).The negative correlation existed between the expression of p27 and the lymph node metastasis, clinical stages, the expression of C-erbB-2 and p53.The positive correlation existed between the expression of p27 and ER.The correlation did not exist between the expression of p27 and age, sizes of tumor, the expression of PR(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of p27 probably is associated with the development of breast carcinoma and lymph node metastasis. The expression of p27 is negatively correlated with the expression of C-erbB-2 and p53.The expression of p27 can be used in predicting the clinical progression and prognosis of breast carcinoma.
