Title: The clinical research of microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia
Abstract: Objective To investigate the surgery effect, complications and side effect of microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia, propose improvement programs and improve the clinical effect. Methods Seventy four patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia in our hospital from August 2008 to April 2011 which received the microvascular decompression surgery were retrospectively analysed. Results The total effective rate of this surgery was 98.6%, with no cerebrospinal fluid leakage, hearing loss, intracranial infections and other serious complications, it found that the recurrence rate was 1.4% according to postoperative follow-up. Conclusion Microvascular decompression is an effective method of surgical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, it can relieve common causes of trigeminal neuralgia, preserve function of all the trigeminal nerve branches, is one of the effective operation method to trigeminal neuralgia.
